Tampa General Hospital
Tampa General is located here in Tampa Florida. It is a local agency and is one of the largest hospitals in Florida. This was my top choice for potential employers, because it is so large and houses so many different departments. While I was researching it, I found that of I worked here as an RN, I would have endless possibilities. It is one of the area’s largest trauma centers, and it also has a burn unit. Doctors here have performed many surgeries, and with the hospital being one of the largest organ transplant centers, the first successful heart transplant was able to be performed here in 1985. As an RN I could work in any part of this facility, and choose which department I would like to work in. Another thing I liked about this employer is that it is directly affiliated with USF. This hospital holds many internships with potential doctors, nurses, and physical therapists who may want to be employed there one day. By being able to intern here, I would be able to see many different aspects of what an RN does and I would also be in the type of setting I would need to get used to, and possible meet people here that could help me get to my true goal of becoming a Nurse Anesthetist.

In my research for this assignment I also looked at several hospitals because one of my dreams is to become a Physician’s Assistant. Not only is Tampa General a great hospital but it works hand in hand with USF which really helps for those of us considering graduate programs here. The fact that internships are available is very helpful during considering a career because it would provide us with experience and may even guide us towards a decision about what specializations we are interested in. I was not aware that Tampa General housed a burn unit. Not only does this hospital lend a number of possibilities but also many possibilities you can’t find at other hospitals nearby.
ReplyDeleteOverall this blog was my favorite, because it gave me new information about a potential hospital that I could work at. I also want to be a part of the nursing field. I did not know that Tampa General Hospital is one of the largest trauma centers and organ transplant centers. I also found it interesting that the first successful heart transplant was performed in 1985 in this hospital. Tampa General Hospital is different from one of my top potential employers, because it deals with an array of patients. I ultimately want to deal mainly with children, but this hospital seems to be an opportunity that I would enjoy as well.
