Association of Maternal Child Health Programs in Washington DC

The program's initiative is to improve the health of women, children, youth and families. They try to directly serve all women and children nationwide. They provide programs like public health education, screening services, coordinating preventive primary and specialty care. AMCHP has a couple of successful programs like A Leader in Family Health, Women's and Perintal Health, Adolescent and School Health, and Children with Special Health Care Needs. Under A Leader in Family Health, it manages programs for women, children, and families. It also concentrates on the quality of health systems and cost-effective social services. Under Women's and Perinatal Health, they promote programs like quality health care for women of reproductive age including prenatal care. The program learns how to reduce racial and ethnic disparities and help prevent HIV transmission from mother to babies. Under Adolescent and School Health, state agencies, schools, and youth organizations prevent behaviors that can result the risk of HIV among the youth along with STD's, unintended pregnancies, and other health related problems. Lastly, Children with Special Health Care Needs program provide special health care needs to high quality family centered health services for those kids who have disability and chronic illness. the program tries to link children to an appropriate health .
