I plan to continue my education and go to graduate school to become a chiropractor (DC). The requirements for the school I am looking into are to have a Bachelor's degree along with some key courses. I looked into many Chiropractic professions in Tampa and came across Florida Wellness and Rehab, located in downtown Tampa. This organization's purpose is to promote healthy living and preventive care to reduce risks in illness and disease, rather than treatment after diagnosis. They understand the importance to individual health and tailor programs to one specific person and their needs. Florida Wellness and Rehab offer services such as acupuncture, chiropractic medicine, message therapy, physical therapy and other wellness services. What is interesting about this organization is they have online interactive learning programs, you can fill out the paperwork prior to an office visit, and the doctor keeps his patients up-to-date with an online blog. The current doctor there now is a chiropractor and physician assistant. There are no job openings at this time. I enjoyed looking into this practice because it is a perfect model for a potential career and employer for me. Chiropractors cannot prescribe medicine but they can refer someone to specialist and in the state of Florida, they can be primary care doctors. The idea behind this practice is that if the spine is aligned correctly then the nerves and organs can function accurately.
Before reading your blog, I did not know that a chiropractor could be considered a primary care doctor in Florida. I know that in most states, you have to have a bachelor’s degree before you can practice as a chiropractor. Allied Health seems to be the best undergrad degree because you also have certain prerequisites that must be fulfilled in order to be successful at a chiropractic program. Palmer Chiropractic has three campuses and one is located in Port Orange, Florida. D. D. Palmer is actually considered the “Father of Chiropractic Medicine,” and his schools are based on his principles. I had a bad accident and saw three different chiropractors afterward. I would recommend Palmer because a graduate of that school took care of me and he showed me the difference in his education at Palmer versus other schools.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input. I actually plan on going to the Port Orange campus. I have been there numerous times. I'm glad it had such a good impact.
