The National Institute of Health is a federal government agency which serves a wide range of individuals. The National Institute of Health is located in Bethesda, Maryland. Something that I loved about this organization is the mission statement which is to expand and enhance life, and reduce illness and disability by obtaining valuable information about the lives of others. The mission statement makes it clear that this organization is dedicated to enhance the lives of Americans. Out of all the occupations this organization has to offer, I could see myself fulfilling a career as a Management and Program Analyst. The minimum qualification for this position is one year of specialized experience and has a salary of $89,033-$115,742. An interesting fact about this organization is the training opportunities for high school students as well as undergraduate and graduate students. The Post baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award is the most interesting training program for students who recently graduated with their bachelor’s degree. This is a great opportunity for me as well as other students because it offers two years performing full time research with esteemed scientists at the National institute of Health. There are other internship opportunities as well as training programs for post doctoral students.
The National Institute of Health is in a great location for seafood being located in Maryland. I like the fact that this agency reaches out to the high school students and offers undergraduate training as well. Outside of this agency having training for potential employees at the high school and undergraduate level it offers internship. This is very important to college students for any profession. Even if internship not for pay, it should still gives the student motivation because they receive firsthand knowledge of the agency and possibly narrow down the type of position desired within that agency. Interning can help students decide if the work they are doing is what they’d like to really do. I am interested to know more about what type of specialized one year training is required for the Management and Program Analyst position is all about. The salary is amazing and could give someone a comfortable life. The mission of this federal agency is all about public health among many. Another protecting agency for the population of America is fantastic and this agency has a lot to offer.
