Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay
The Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay is a facility that treats a wide variety of infectious and tropical diseases. The staff consists of physicians and nurses specially trained to diagnose and treat infectious diseases. The facility is located on North Habana Avenue right here in Tampa. The building is very nice and set up to ensure the comfort level of patients is as high as possible. They have an awesome travel clinic that serves as a one stop shop for those wanting to travel abroad or those returning from traveling. The clinic offers vaccinations for a wide variety of disease such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid Fever, Polio and even Yellow Fever. Upon visiting the travel clinic a patient can also expect to receive plenty of information on health safety and preventative measures to consider while abroad. The staff can also provide information on potential health hazards for the specific country the patient is traveling to. Even though the faculty stresses the importance of prevention, if a patient wishes they can be evaluated promptly upon returning and receive treatment if necessary. There are also top of the line infusion services such as hydration therapy, antibiotic therapy, and even catheter care. A physician is available to every patient 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I really enjoyed this post because I have never heard of the Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay. Being the Service Chair of the Infectious Disease Association here on USF campus, this is a topic of great interest to me. I like the fact they give you information on safety and preventative measures to consider when traveling abroad and provide a variety of vaccines. I also find it interesting that a physician is available to every patient 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have to wonder if this clinic hires public health workers like epidemiologists, biostaticians or even public health educators or if they hire more RN’s and MD’s? Either way thanks for the post and I will be looking into this company more.
